For Yoga Teachers and Studio Owners
About
Welcome to Asana Insights, a yoga business blog for studio owners and yoga teachers! My name is Lara, and I am thrilled to have you here. As a former yoga studio owner with 15 years of experience, I know firsthand the unique challenges that come with teaching yoga and running a business in the wellness industry. That's why I created this blog - to share my lessons, insights, and experiences with you, and to build a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about yoga.
I owned and operated a yoga studio with my husband Yanni for 15 years. In the fall 2022, we sold to focus on building West Wind Yoga Retreat. (Details and credentials on the About Us page)
We experienced a lot of good things, a few extraordinarily great things, and many uncomfortable things within in those 15 years. I'll unpack them all inside this blog as a teaching tool for you.
Sharing experiences in this blog are one way for me to continue to serve the yoga community I love while creating a community for all of us. Since letting go of the studio, I miss the day-to-day of having a yoga community I'm totally plugged into.
As a lifelong teacher, I have a wealth of knowledge to share with you. In this blog, I'll be diving into the core pillars of yoga practice and teaching, exploring the business side of running a yoga studio, and providing practical tips and tricks for how to successfully build a loyal client base and keep your yoga classes full. You'll learn how to deepen your impact with stronger teaching skills and stand out in a saturated industry. Whether you're just starting out, or have been in the yoga world for a while, I believe you'll find useful and accessible tools to further embody the heart of yoga.
The following posts will dive into the core pillars of my yoga values and how I came to discover to them. These values provided the courage I needed to look honestly into my own heart and became the foundations of my teaching. Without them, neither I, nor the studio, would have been able to withstand difficult times, burnout, or the discomfort of transformation, which a yoga practice demands. One of my goals with West Wind is to guide you through your own self-discovery process to uncover and purify the unique values that fuel your yoga practice, teaching, and lifestyle.
Is Asana Insights Yoga Teacher Blog for You?
Another reason I created this blog is to offer a supportive community for yoga teachers. I understand that running a business in the wellness industry can be isolating, and I want to provide a space where you can connect with others, share your experiences, and ask questions. That's why I encourage you to join the conversation and share your thoughts, comments, and questions. Just remember to be respectful of others, even if we don't always agree.
In this blog, I'll be exploring everything from leadership skills, to managing people, dealing with the public, to budgeting, advertising, and time management. These are all essential skills that any business owner, not just yoga studio owners, needs to have. And, because I strongly believe that sound business practices carry over across industries, I'll also be sharing tips and tricks that I've learned from my experiences in other positions outside of the wellness industry.
As a yoga teacher, I'll be asking you to look closely at yourself, your teaching style, and your student relationships. I'll lead you through the process of uncovering the core values in your yoga practice, the sacred circle of your choices, and the 5 Elements of your yoga lifestyle. I'll share practical tools for you to employ to ensure these insights flow more easily through your everyday life and into your yoga classes. I'll be asking you to open your heart to a more meaningful yoga experience than you know right now.
Through Asana Insights, I'll be sharing information that I've learned over the years, some of which I've paid tens of thousands of dollars for. I believe that this information is too valuable to keep to myself, and I want to make it accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget. That's why there is no cost to enjoy the blog and join in the conversations. All I ask is that you take what works for you, ask questions in the comments, and let's collaborate as colleagues.
