A 3 Step Reflection Exercise on Grief, Abundance, Gratitude, and Personal Growth
Like mirrors and gemstones, Fall is a season of many faces. It begins with liberation through letting go, transforms into a season of grieving what has passed, and finally culminates in a season of abundance through harvest celebrations.
But letting go is rarely an easy process. Loss and grief often wrap themselves up alongside any feelings of freedom that may arise from letting go, especially as daylight wanes and the holiday season approaches.
The power of reflecting upon a personal harvest — a look at what we've cultivated and retained this year — can be a guiding light to help us transform loss, grief, regret, and loneliness into freedom, gratitude, abundance, and peace. Acknowledging our accomplishments creates space within our shadows to harvest the light within its depths.
Today's blog provides the following suggestions on how to honor your resiliance and activate your light in 3 steps on this Black Friday.
Step 1. Reflection and Gratitude Practice
Set aside some quiet time for reflection. Find a cozy spot where you won't be disturbed.Â
Bring to mind the experiences, achievements, or moments from this year that brought you joy, fulfillment, or growth.
Write them down in a journal or notebook. The act of putting them on paper can solidify your gratitude.Â
Express gratitude not only for positive experiences but also for lessons learned from challenging times. These are equally valuable in your journey.Â
Incorporate this practice into as part of a regular routine, acknowledging the continual flow of abundance in your life, of give and take, expense and reward.Â
Â
Step 2. Yoga and Meditation for Harvesting Abundance
Infuse your yoga practice with the intention of embracing abundance through intentions and affirmations.
Incorporate heart-opening poses, such as Camel Pose or Bridge Pose, to symbolize open-hearted gratitude. Allow these postures an additional breath infused with this intention.
Meditation is a powerful tool to deepen your connection with your personal harvest. Use meditation to focus on your achievements, lessons, and the growth you've experienced. Sit with your feelings, breathing through any grief, loss, or joy that may arise. Meet each feeling equally and openly.
Â
Step 3. Express and Share
Reflect on how your personal abundance extends beyond yourself and impacts those around you. How have your experiences and growth influenced your relationships, actions, and choices?Â
Consider sharing your reflections and gratitude with loved ones. Inspiring and uplifting others is always in season.Â
Â
Acknowledging and reflecting upon what you've cultivated throughout the year postions you for a positve perspective moving into the new year.
In Closing:
This Black Friday Harvest Your Light
The Metal element, fall's ruling personality, is resilient, can cut through resistance, and reflect the truth. It is strong and can be dazzling. This same energy flows through you and me. By channeling Metal's multifaceted essence, we can find our own inner illumination. Gratitude, even when mixed with grief, reminds us to appreciate the harvest of our labor, and in doing so, discover the light of resilience that sustains us today and everyday.
