West Wind Yoga
West Wind Yoga is founded and directed by Lara Alexiou.
Our work unfolds through seasonal immersions, retreats, teacher trainings, and long-term mentorship.
West Wind Yoga was created as a natural continuation for yoga practitioners and teachers who already have a relationship with practice and are seeking something beyond regular studio classes.
We exist to supplement and enrich an established yoga or wellness lifestyle, offering space for deeper study, seasonal rhythm, and shared inquiry. We also gather through longer-form retreat experiences.
A place to continue what you have already begun.
After many years of teaching daily classes as the founder of Steamtown Hot Yoga, the call emerged to create a different type of yoga space. One devoted to depth rather than frequency. West Wind Yoga offers workshops, seasonal immersions, retreats, teacher trainings, apprenticeships, and mentorship, all designed to support ongoing learning and deeper integration.
At West Wind Yoga, expansive yoga philosophy, posture, qigong, meditation, teaching methodology, and Taoist Five Element wisdom are explored in ways that are approachable, engaging, and alive. Our work is rooted in tradition, yet evolved for the modern practitioner and visionary yoga teacher, inviting insight not only on the mat, but into everyday life.
Practice here is meant to be lived and explored with curiosity and integrated into daily experience.
When practice feels familiar, but not finished
Many people find West Wind Yoga when their practice no longer feels new, but doesn’t feel complete either.
You may already have years of experience, a strong physical practice, or even teaching background, yet feel drawn toward something deeper, more integrated, and more sustainable than regular studio classes.
West Wind Yoga exists for this moment. We offer seasonal study, immersive retreats, and long-form learning for practitioners and teachers who want yoga to remain meaningful, alive, and woven into everyday life.
This Season at West Wind
Spring at West Wind Yoga
Spring marks a natural turning point. It's a time of emergence, renewal, and new direction.
Our Spring Equinox Workshop explores the Wood Element and the Annamaya Kosha through seasonal qigong, Tao Yin Yoga, meditation, and simple philosophy, supporting the physical body as the ground for growth and vitality.
This workshop is offered as an intro to part of our Seasonal Immersion pathway, designed for practitioners seeking depth, continuity, and embodied understanding.
Seasonal Immersions
Seasonal Immersions at West Wind Yoga invite you to deepen practice in rhythm with the year. Through Taoist Yoga, qigong, meditation, and 5 Element wisdom, each season explores one Element alongside one of the 5 Koshas, the layers of being that shape how we experience body, energy, mind, and awareness.
Together, these frameworks offer practical ways to understand practice as something lived and integrated into everyday life.
Seasonal Immersions include:
-
Seasonal movement, breathwork, meditation, and energy practices
-
Embodied exploration of the Five Elements and the Koshas
-
Practical tools for integrating seasonal awareness into everyday life
-
